Rediscovering Our Grandparent's Pork: The Taste of Tradition Renewed

Here on our farm, we understand the importance of food quality you can trust. Elevate your
family meals with our exceptional Idaho Pasture Pig Pork, raised on grass and supplemented with non-gmo grains. Our piglets are never given growth promoting antibiotics, added hormones or vaccinations. We prioritize the health and well-being of our animals, ensuring that they are raised in a stress-free environment, which translates into better quality meat for your table.

Our Idaho Pasture Pigs are a unique crossbreed, combining the lard pig Kune Kune with Berkshire and Duroc pigs. This heritage-inspired blend pays homage to the old-world style of pork, resulting in exceptional flavor and texture. Our pork is characterized by its dark red coloring, generous marbling, and juiciness, making it a delight to cook with. Say goodbye to the lean, dry, and tasteless meat from the grocery store.

In addition to its remarkable taste, our pasture raised pork offers numerous nutritional benefits. Raised outside with forage available, our pork is packed with essential nutrients, including Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin D. Omega-3 fatty acids are renowned for their heart-healthy properties, while Vitamin D supports bone health and a robust immune system.

  • Weaner Piglets

As a breeding operation, the majority of our sales is in selling weaned piglets at 8-10 weeks of age for others to raise out for meat.

  • Whole/Half Custom Hog

Not able to raise your own piglet? We've got you covered. Bulk custom pork purchases allow you to fill your freezer with meat we have raised on our farm with the same care and attention as if it was for our own family.

  • Breed Stock

The Idaho Pasture Pig is still a new and developing breed and because of that, it can be hard to find a close, regular source of weaner pigs. We offer Registered IPPs for purchase for farms looking to add a sustainable source of piglets going forward.

How It Works

How It Works: Purchasing Bulk Pork

Ordering a custom cut bulk pork share can be a straightforward process once you understand the steps involved. Here's a step-by-step breakdown to guide you through the process, ensuring a smooth and confident purchase:

1. Seasonal Availability:

  • It's important to note that raising animals for pork is seasonal. Butcher dates are typically available at specific times of the year, so plan your bulk purchase ahead accordingly.

2. Deposit to Reserve:

  • To reserve a whole or half hog, we require a deposit. This deposit not only secures your processing date but also helps cover some of the feed costs for the animals.
  • Deposits can be made through our Webpage or contact us directly to send a check in the mail.

3. Initial Processing:

  • Once the pig reaches its market weight, we schedule an on-farm mobile slaughter company to handle the initial processing. Each half of the pig is tagged with a name and phone number before the meat is sent to the butcher.

4. Cut Order and Hanging Weight:

  • When the meat reaches the butcher, you'll receive a call from one of their skilled technicians to discuss your cut order. Feel free to ask any questions about available cuts, add-on services like patties and links, seasonings, and more. The butcher will also provide you with the hanging weight for the pig, which is used to calculate the cost.

5. Cost Calculation:

  • The cost is calculated based on the hanging weight of the pig. Our pork is priced at 6 dollars a pound hanging weight. For example, if a pig weighs 180 pounds at the butcher, the total amount due to the farm for a whole hog would be $1080.

6. Invoice and Deposit Deduction:

  • We will send you an invoice via email, which will reflect the total cost minus the initial deposit you made.

7. Butcher's Cut and Wrap Fees:

  • The local butcher shop will have its own cut and wrap fees in addition to the price due to the farm. On average, this is typically around $1.35 per pound. However, this cost can be higher if you request additional services like smoking or specialty items such as patties and links. These fees are paid directly to the butcher when you pick up the meat.

8. Pick Up or Delivery:

  • Normally, you will pick up the meat directly from the butcher. We typically use CJ’s Custom Meats in Wapato, WA. If special arrangements are needed, or if you're unable to pick up your order, please contact us to inquire about delivery options, which may incur an additional fee.

9. Delivery Arrangements:

  • For customers in the Seattle area or those residing out of town, we arrange drop-off delivery dates for an extra fee. Please note that all meat must be paid for in full before delivery.

By following these steps, you can enjoy the convenience and benefits of purchasing high-quality pork in bulk while being well-informed throughout the process. If you have any questions or require further assistance, feel free to reach out to us. We're here to help you.
